Rustic design – what does it even mean?

This pair of words seems to be the star of the design world, and in general, many homeowners are eager to bring the charm of rural design into their homes. On the other hand, it is not always clear what it means at all, what raw materials we use, what shades will dominate each corner of the house and how we can bring the warm and wonderful atmosphere of European villages - even into modern apartments in the heart of the bustling city. If so, it is time to understand what rural design is and how the classic European style fits into Israel's big cities.

Rural design style - natural raw materials
If we try to define it simply, rural style is the classic style of the past. We see it mainly in Europe, in countries like France or Italy, for example. It also varies from region to region, so that the rural style that dominates Tuscany is essentially different from the style preferred by the residents of Provence. Each city, state and region has a unique and distinct style, although we will usually recognize the tiled roofs and natural raw materials. In this style, we return to wood and stone, to the bricks and iron, with what guides us along the way being the connection to nature, expressed in the use of natural materials. The result? Tuscan or colonial-style residences even in the big, noisy cities of Israel, homes that give us the feeling that we are still in a slightly different world, in a picturesque and sweet town in Italy.

Country design – putting together the puzzle
Although the raw materials are very significant in the planning process, country design is a large and complex puzzle. Under the big title, the one that evokes a pleasant feeling in us even before we enter the house, other variables are hidden, such as the choice of shades and textures, the contours that dominate the house and of course the furniture and textile products, which we will get to in the final stages. This is also where the clear differences between the different design styles begin, with the Provence style characterized by cold shades (white or gray, for example) and these colors also dictate the colors of the wood or bricks. On the other hand, Tuscan style is a style that gives a lot of respect to the original shades of the raw materials themselves, and thus the brown color of the wood will affect the other colors in the space, and hence we will incorporate more stones in sandy shades and other materials in their raw state.

Country style – large windows
As mentioned, there are quite a few more pieces to this colorful and spectacular puzzle. For example, if the modern kitchen combines synthetic materials and glass in a variety of shades, in the country kitchen we will see the wood and classic decorations. The windows in country houses are also larger than those that characterize modern houses.
