From Castles to Villas: Luxury Architecture Throughout History
Almost everything is subject to the dynamics of unforgiving reality, and the changes and annoyances of architectural design for a private home are no exception. Although, like everything else, they were based on the preservation of many architectural principles throughout history, they did create them from scratch thanks to the joy of creation. After luxury architects and the buildings that came under their work were the property of those with class and status, today this is no longer the case and now everyone can, through architectural design for a private home, introduce the Torah that stands behind a long dynasty of luxury architects. So how has luxury been expressed throughout history? All the information - now in the article.
Three luxury buildings from fairy tales and also from reality
Well, starting with farms, mansions and castles and all the way to penthouses and villas, here are some things we discovered about the work of luxury architects throughout history, as well as discoveries about the evolution of luxury architects and the spaces they created over the years:
- Neuschwanstein Castle (1886).
If you thought that name was difficult, then wait for this: the castle is located near Hohenschwangau Castle in the south of Bavaria, near the Austrian border, above the dreamy castles that make every tourist feel like they're in a fairy tale. The luxury architects behind the castle's design aimed to create a structure based on the foundations of Romanesque architecture, and it was created in the 19th century, which allowed for the creation of a structure based on methods from a world after the Industrial Revolution. That is, there were more ways to introduce comfort, since it would be difficult to say that without these, they would have managed to bring his fantasy to life in the medieval style.
Those who went against every principle of the classical nucleus that composed prestigious architects before the 20th century, Green & Green created the gambling house that was a masterpiece of American arts and crafts. They combined design elements from the world of Asian and European architecture. These, in addition to outstanding carpentry and meticulous attention to decorated stained glass, on California land created a fusion that earned the Gamble House immortality and, like all these buildings, it also serves as a museum today.
There is no doubt that to get to the Salzman House we pressed the fast-forward button in history for a long time. This is especially evident in this building, which was the brainchild of, of course, the Jewish Richard Meier. The Salzmann House was inspired by the planning principles of the Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Its construction in the late 1960s mainly expressed Meier's desire to differentiate himself from the popularity of postmodern architecture, and most of the family and entertainment areas of the house were located on the second and third floors. This subversion led to the house being characterized by a unique view of the sea skyline, which would not have been possible if he had chosen to have the entertainment spaces at ground level.
