When Spain Meets Italy: Mediterranean Architecture and Design

Mediterranean home design began in 1920, combining Spanish and Italian elements. Mediterranean architecture often establishes itself in warm places and countries. Needless to say, Mediterranean design is intended for people who are not excited by changes and do not intend to stay up to date with trends, due to the temporality and eternity that also characterizes this style. Mediterranean architecture and design is also suitable for a combination of rustic style architecture as well as villa planning and is in fact a versatile, young and fun solution for anyone who wants to design a space.

Three Mediterranean styles in home and villa architecture:
Italian Renaissance – draws inspiration from buildings from the Italian Renaissance period. This style is unique due to its rounded columns and arches.
Spanish Colonial – You can’t say Mediterranean architecture and design without including some Spanish colonial design here and there. This type of house, which is influenced by colonial architecture, usually expresses simplicity, cleanliness and low-sloping roofs.
Modern Mediterranean – Mediterranean architecture and design, but modern. This style has traditional characteristics with a modern twist that emphasizes the feeling of the inside and outside, giving importance to the size of the huge spaces, open spaces, and a combination of Italian-Spanish elements. Suitable for planning villas due to the size, but also for creating rustic-style architecture.
And what about interior design?
When talking about Mediterranean architecture and design in home design, villa design professionals have long understood the importance of symmetry in Mediterranean design. Because the architecture is dominant, or some would say, rude, the emphasis in furniture should be on symmetry. This can be expressed in pairs of chairs, or pairs of sofas, or alternatively a quartet. Let's put it this way, Mediterranean design does not call for eclectic interior design. So that you can understand a little more about Mediterranean interior design, we have compiled 4 common interior design features for you:

1. Printed tiles. Make an impression in the entrance hall by paving tiles with a print in the Portuguese style with blue and white. While hallways can be forgotten and disappear in interior design, some people do not take advantage of the opportunity to turn them into one of the impressive pearls of the house.

2. Blue and white. This is our color as Israelis, and not least importantly, the color that is easiest to bring into the home in order to bring the scent of taverns to our home. The reason it remains relevant is due to its versatility.

3. Flowers. If you are looking for direction in villa planning and interior design in a Mediterranean style, floral wallpapers can be an excellent option. Always intended for the bold among us, and still, if you want to complete the Middle Eastern experience, a little flowers won't hurt
