Considerations for planning a private home – what should you take into account and why?

Are you going to build a private house soon?
Surely many design magazines adorn the living room table at home and you have walked around the neighborhood to see how others have built theirs. Some families choose to build their house according to a fixed "template" offered to them by the contractor, imitating the neighbor's house, or, alternatively, create a new design that has never been seen before.

Before you plan your house, we have collected for you some questions that you should ask yourself in order to plan your house correctly.

How many levels do we want the house to have?

An important part of our area will include the building and the rest the outdoor areas, but what is the area you need in the building?

Would you like to build four or five bedrooms? Maybe more? Depending on the amount of built-up area you need, you should also decide in general how you want to divide it into levels.

Some house plans include the living room and dining room on the lower floor (alongside the toilet and bathroom) with the bedrooms on the upper floor or floors.

Others choose a different style – placing all the rooms on one floor, and the upper floor is specifically designated for a spacious master bedroom. We will expand on this later.

What view do we want to be reflected from the backyard?

Look around the house. What view is reflected when you look around you 360 degrees?

This way you can choose where you want your backyard to face. If there are green spaces in front of you, or a spectacular view of a lake or sea –

You may want to place the garden specifically in front of this direction and create a luxurious seating area (such as a patio or a yard with a pergola) that will face this direction.

Alternatively, you can see how your neighbors have positioned the front of the house and yard and "copy" elements of their design.

Which direction do we want the living room to face?

Another aspect is your living room.

Would you like it to serve as an exit to the back garden (via an impressive Venetian door) or would you rather place the living room opposite your front door,

with the interior rooms facing the backyard?

In home planning, the sky is the limit, and sometimes a decision in one direction or another can affect not only the quality of your life in the home but also the value of the property if you want to sell it in the future.

Will we plan a luxurious master suite?

When it comes to planning many private homes today, we encounter a master suite that is significantly larger than the other bedrooms in the house and also includes a private bathroom.

You can also add a closet to this room where you can store a large amount of clothes, shoes, and your tie collection. If you don't need a large storage space, you can make do with a closet adjacent to one of the walls.

Comprehensive planning of the storage areas in the entire house during construction will save them additional costs in the future.

What "treats" will the yard include?
After we have planned the rooms of the house, we move on to the outdoor areas.

This is the time to be especially creative, adding an impressive fish pond, a Zen garden or a swimming pool.

You can also plan outdoor seating areas, with another trend that has arrived in Israel from the US today: an outdoor kitchen that includes a stove and advanced cooking options while you sit under the open sky.

Do we want the house to also include a basement?

Let's end with the last question - do you want the house to also include a basement floor? (A decision that may slightly increase construction costs - since you will have to invest a little more in digging down).

In the same way, you can turn the basement itself into another room in the house, add special wall coverings to it, or use it as a storage area without any special design.

These are some of the questions that will help you better plan your private home.

Take a look at the designs of different houses in your area and try to imagine which elements you would like to adopt for your home space.
